Tanning Tips for Your Boudoir Session

We all want that golden glow skin for our session and I love the way different skin tones photograph. If you want that beach bronzed look but still look natural, here is my recommendation on how to get it!

Check out The Shady Sun in Salisbury, MD for the best in natural looking tanning. Their products go on smooth and blend so well, they also wash out fairly evenly and don’t leave you with camouflaged spotting. You can book an appointment directly in their studio in Salisbury or through Andrea Bounds Beauty in West Ocean City if that is more convenient for you. Spray tans typically last about 10-14 days and I recommend having your tan done 1-2 days before your session.

If you have never tanned before, a spray tan does come with the side effect of a heaping dose of confidence in your skivvies! Man I feel like a million bucks in the buff when I am wearing a good spray tan. I recommend trying a lighter/medium shade for first timers so you still feel like yourself in your own skin.

If you plan to use self tanner, please don’t. The night before your session is not the time to try a new product you picked up from the store. Tanning products are much like make up and can photograph very differently under studio lighting than they look in person. Self tanners also tend to leave a nice ring around the feet, toes, fingers and hands that sticks out in images. If you are a pro and have been using self tanner for years and know how to apply without leaving hand & feet residue please use Shady Sun Products (can be purchased in Salisbury or through Andrea Bounds Beauty) for best results.

If you have tan lines before your session and want to blend them before your photos are taken, check out a spray tan thought Shady Sun or Andrea Bounds Beauty. Tan lines can be removed in Photoshop and are subject to an additional cost in retouching.
